It is easy to grow in moderate to cold weather. Ideal growing temperature ranges from 10°C to 32°C.
Kasuri Methi fenugreek seeds are suitable for growing in both soil beds and pots / Grow bags.
It needs soil rich in organic matter like compost / kitchen compost or vermicompost to produce a good yield.
To get better results, we advise adding Neem Cake Powder and Seaweed Fertilizer once saplings reach a height of 1 – 2 inches.
How to grow Kasuri Methi from seeds?
- Prepare the soil mix by adding compost to it. Up to 50% of compost can be added.
- Soak the seeds for 12 hours before sowing.
- Sow the seeds at least 1 inch apart at the depth of 1/4 inches.
- Keep the soil moist without flooding it until the seeds are germinated.
- Once the seeds are germinated, place the pot where it gets at least 3 – 4 hours of sunlight.
- After germination, water the pot only when the topsoil is dry.
- Add Neem Cake powder and Seaweed Fertilizer when saplings achieve a height of 1 – 2 inches.
- Kasuri Methi will be ready for harvest in a little over a month’s time.
How and When To Harvest Kasuri Methi Fenugreek ?
- If you are growing Kasuri Methi for drying and storing to later use for flavoring dishes, then let it grow as a bunch and harvest it in one go.
- In case you want to use its tender leaves in your day-to-day cooking like adding it to your Parathas or in Vegetable Curries, then you can start harvesting as soon as its stems are a few inches long. Clip the top half of the tender leaves and leave the bottom half to regrow.
- This way you can have harvest multiple times till the plant flowers to produce seeds.
